AI Video Translation SaaS: Distributed Asynchronous AI Audio Transcription & Translation Engine
An asynchronous media processing platform that translates video dialogue across dozens of languages. Features automated speech-to-text, timestamped subtitle alignment, an interactive review studio, and a decoupled job queue handling heavy media workloads without blocking the web application.
Interactive Asynchronous Subtitle Review Studio
Speech-to-text segmentation via OpenAI Whisper API paired with Google Cloud Translation, aligned to millisecond timecodes on decoupled background workers.

Decoupled BullMQ & Redis Distributed Worker Fleet
Asynchronous background task processing isolating video transcoding from Next.js web requests
The Enterprise Challenge
Video subtitle translation requires intensive CPU/GPU transcoding and speech-to-text inference. Running these workloads directly inside web request handlers leads to request timeouts, server crashes under load, and poor user experience.
The Architectural Solution
Engineered a decoupled, event-driven queue architecture using Next.js 14 for user interactions and BullMQ + Upstash Redis for distributed job processing. Node.js background workers extract audio via FFmpeg, dispatch audio chunks to OpenAI Whisper STT, preserve SRT timestamp anchors, translate line-by-line via Google Cloud Translation, and stream progress to an interactive side-by-side editing studio.
Key Architectural Differentiators
Decoupled asynchronous worker queue prevents serverless timeout bottlenecks on long video files.
Preserves millisecond-accurate subtitle timecodes across target languages with variable sentence structures.
Multi-tenant security backed by PostgreSQL Row Level Security (RLS) guarantees complete cross-workspace data isolation.
